Ok, my #neovim #rust programming environment finally looks good... but I no longer have time for coding today! 🤦♂️

Bernie (codewiz@mstdn.io)'s status on Sunday, 17-Jul-2022 23:23:46 UTC Bernie Here are my hybrid #vim / #neovim config:
https://codewiz.org/pub/dotfiles/vimrcThe IDE features are a #neovim only addition to this base config:
https://codewiz.org/pub/dotfiles/neovim-bernie.luaAnd #wezterm also neeed a ton of Lua configuration:

Bernie (codewiz@mstdn.io)'s status on Sunday, 17-Jul-2022 23:24:15 UTC Bernie I don't actually know #Lua and I don't even care to learn it... I just copy-pasted a bunch of stuff from GitHub and tweak it until it works... I guess that makes me a Lua Copilot? 😄

Bernie (codewiz@mstdn.io)'s status on Sunday, 17-Jul-2022 23:48:00 UTC Bernie @pj It's #Wezterm with a single horizontal split. Vim has a vsplit. I themed the split bars of both programs to look almost identical (with a subtle green accent in vim).
I tried using the #neovim embedded terminal, but ironically I can't get used to vim-style editing while using a terminal 😂

Surely they will ingest only permissively-licensed code with no complications (attribution clauses, patent clauses...)
Do we have hard evidence of actual copyright infringement that would get them in trouble?
I mostly host on #GitLab, but I'd be happy to clone all my GPLv3 projects to GitHub if it helps get Microsoft sued 😃

olamundo@red.niboe.info's status on Monday, 18-Jul-2022 00:38:13 UTC olamundo @codewiz No it doesn't.
To patch together code is the basics of programming.
If you respect the licenses where you took them from, you'd be doing it in the most correct form possible.
But, if you copied everyone's Lua code without consent and stated suggesting pieces of it to people, with no way for them to retrieve the respective licenses, while moving to comercialize your approach and destroy the Lua community at the same time, you'd be on your way to being a Lua Copilot®.

olamundo@red.niboe.info's status on Monday, 18-Jul-2022 00:58:38 UTC olamundo @codewiz I don't think getting Microsoft sued does any harm to them.
Throwing yourself in the front of a moving SUV to get the driver sued won't do much to the petroil industry.
Microsoft has publicly started conflicts they knew they'd lose the battle, but win the war. i.e. the browser wars.
As long as Big Tech only gets wrist slaps as fines and continue to dictate the regulations/laws in the Information Era, nothing will be changed.
I call for a complete and total boycott of Microsoft, as well as grassroot awareness movements to get people out of it.
In the end of the day, we don't need them, but they need us.
