      It's not not a bad blogpost, and I didn't know that felines lack the receptors for sweetness, but it doesn't answer the main question that was on my mind: are there animals that can taste more than the 5 basic flavors perceived by humans?

      Ok, it seems dogs can taste something special about water... the article doesn't go into the details though...
