For some reason Phantasmagoria (1995) comes bundled with 47 screenshots from Mystery House (1980)

@dosnostalgic Is there something like an "extras" section of "making of" which delves into Sierra's history?

@trinsec It is. The first. And the first graphical adventure we know of, in general.

@dosnostalgic Isn't that one of Sierra's *first* graphical adventures?

@dosnostalgic That sent me down a rat-hole of learning what that game was and ended up learning something insane: the intricacies of the Apple II's hires mode: https://www.xtof.info/hires-graphics-apple-ii.html
That looked like a "fun" challenge to use.

      1. HIRES Graphics on Apple II
        from @pixinn
In 1977, the Apple II was the very first personal computer providing color graphics capabilities with its LORES and HIRES modes. This feat was achieved in a very clever, but peculiar way.

@tommythorn Yep. It's NTSC composite artifact color. See also: PC CGA composite output. Pretty much the same deal.

@dosnostalgic Right, but that's just the beginning. The encoding with all the weirdness is what makes this fun.
