The registration procedure is the typical mess of Japanese government apps, going back and forth between app and website, long instruction screens, countdown timers, unreasonably strict form validation, email confirmation that doesn't work...
And there's even this interstitial for an upcoming website that prevents me from reading the instructions and can't be dismissed (Close is not really a link, wtf...)
I guess some things never change ๐
@globalc @benoit Yes, you don't need to quarantine if your app shows a blue screen and if you can click an icon and load a webpage with a qrcode... but most people on arrival were having trouble getting to the qrcode.
I had preemptively taken screenshots of both to be sure ๐
@benoit
Visa stuff massively changed indeed - she got the visa as I'm living here. Tourists can as of this week get the visa as easy as before Corona.
Not sure on how much changed regarding Corona this week for people entering Japan - she also effectively had not to quarantine, but it took a day for that to appear in the app.
@codewiz
@globalc @codewiz she was here before October 11 though, should be easier now. Surely all tourists don't need to waste at least a day now.
@benoit @codewiz
I guess like for my mother they ask to install the app, and that you register yourself with the app and your location, and then to "that in that place until end of quarantine".
Took then at least in case of my mother a full day until that "end of quarantine" was displayed on the app, I think same day as she registered/so arrived.
@globalc @codewiz wait what? There still quarantine? You gotta be joking.
@codewiz Wait until you see how much quarantine days they decide for you :>
How big is your hotel room? Just in case we need to meet there instead of the restaurant..
@jonathan They record audio to monitor for covid.
