     @linuxfrickler My friends told me that Miyazaki bought what remained of the forest which inspired Totoro in order to prevent it from being destroyed by urbanization.

     It seems Miyazaki is still actively involved in the efforts to preserve and expand the forest. Totoro no Mori nr. 52 through 55 were established in 2020.

     Also in this area, the beautiful Tokyo Toritsu Sayama Natural Park (東京都立狭山自然公園), which surrounds the Sayama Lake (狭山湖).

     Sayama Nature Park and, beyond it, Tokorozawa City (所沢市).

     Some of my best friends live there. With a 50 minutes train ride to Shinjuku, it's the perfect balance between nature and city access.
