What is the “Federated timeline” you usually see in #Fediverse software/platforms like #Mastodon, #Hubzilla, #MissKey, #PixelFed (to mention a few)?

The “Federated timeline” (or similar) is where posts from other instances (or servers) are shown. It is not the entire Fediverse, rather, it displays posts from instances your server have already encountered.

In Mastodon, you can remove that panel. In other platforms, it's a separate tab. It's all up to you if you want to read it.
