  Dolphin Release 2412 is here and we've got the details for what's new in the latest build. The biggest thing to note is that there's a lot of polishing to help make playing games a little more pleasant. Several key fixes to Dolphin's HLE audio helps bring a few more games toward audio perfection, and adjustments to Dolphin's CPU <-> GPU syncing reduces the number of harmless, but annoying, popup errors that happen in certain games. That isn't to say there aren't any titles seeing significant improvements. LIT (School of Darkness) had a unique problem that exposed yet another unemulated hardware behavior. And if you're looking for a look into a problematic behavior in a game? We have one of those as well. Eternal Darkness has been a thorn in our side the past couple of months and required some special attention to get working again in time for this release. It also supports non-native games via different emulators (called "runners", it includes the main emulators, but also Wine, Flatpak, Libretro, Pico-8, TIC-80, ScummVM, Web, ZDoom). It allows a general configuration by Runner, and a specific configuration for each game. It also supports many tools dedicated to games (Gamemode, Mangohud, gamescope, DXVK, VKD3D, anti-cheat systems, ...). For now (Sept-22) only the GOG store is fully integrated (view and update games from the interface), the other stores are links launching external interfaces.

3. A behind view of the game Breath of the Wild, where the protagonist (Link) is contemplating a sunset on what seems to be a sacred place in a mountainous area. Cemu is a libre, multi-platform emulator of the Wii U game console & homebrew. In continuous development, as of August 2022, it already allows you to play the majority of the games of this console, with 13% of the games running perfectly, 39% completely playable and 19% functional (but unable to be completed). It does not require a copy of the Wii U BIOS to work. It requires a powerful configuration to get a smooth game.

Ludusavi is a libre, multi-platform tool for managing/backing up the user's video game backup data. It can be used from a graphical interface or from the command line. To know what to save it uses an actively maintained database of more than 10,000 entries - called "Ludusavi Manifest" (which it updates automatically from the data on the PCGamingWiki site). Users can also enter their own entries. It offers support for Steam, Steam Deck, and games using Proton.

En Linux, uno de los programas esenciales que debemos conocer es su administrador de paquetes. Ya sea APT, en el caso de Ubuntu, o Pacman, en el caso de Arch, este programa es el que nos va a permitir gestionar (como su nombre indica) todos los paquetes que forman nuestra distro. Con él podremos buscar e instalar programas, actualizar el sistema, actualizar los programas, buscar actualizaciones, borrar paquetes no usados… todo lo relacionado con el software de nuestro Linux se hará con el gestor de paquetes. Por tanto, es una herramienta que debemos conocer bastante bien.

#Archcraft es otra estúpida y sensual distro #Linux minimalista basada en #Arch que luce simplemente fenomenal

Han pasado años desde que una distro Linux me llama tanto la atención que siento que quiero convertirla en mi sistema operativo del día a día. Pero es que Archcraft es tan genial, bonita, extremadamente ligera, personalizable y simplemente fenomenal, que estoy considerando el dual-boot por primera vez en un buen rato.

Hasta creo que visualizo un PC en casa solo con esta distro, unos meses o quizás más tiempo en los que trabaje solo con Linux y experimente la vida de otra forma, sea o no permanente o posible a nivel práctico (no puedo dejar de escribir sobre Windows y de probar todas sus novedades). Pero esta distro ha renovado mi entusiasmo por Linux un 200%.

Instalar #Arch #Linux fácil y rápido con dos comandos

Arch Linux es una de las mejores distros que podemos descargar e instalar en el PC, al menos si somos usuarios avanzados. A diferencia de otras, como Ubuntu, que vienen ya preparadas con una serie de paquetes y software para poder empezar a usarlas desde el primer momento, Arch hay que configurarla de cero durante su instalación, instalación que, por cierto, es a base de comandos. Si la conseguimos hacer, y sabemos mantenerla en condiciones, tenemos uno de los mejores sistemas operativos que podemos encontrar para PC. Pero la mayoría de los usuarios que deciden darle una oportunidad la abandonan antes de llegar a instalarla.

Hay varias formas de instalar Arch Linux. Lo clásico es copiar y configurar el sistema a mano desde la consola que cargamos en el modo Live, pero la última versión de Arch trajo un nuevo asistente que simplifica en gran medida el proceso de instalación y puesta en marcha del sistema. Aun así, a muchos usuarios les resulta complicada de configurar.

Por suerte, hay otras técnicas que nos permiten instalar este sistema de forma mucho más rápida y sencilla. Y, en esta ocasión, os vamos a explicar cómo hacerlo escribiendo tan solo dos comandos.
