Suji Yan has acquired #Pawoo, making him the largest owner of #Mastodon (and fediverse) instances. I suspect Pawoo changed hands for reasons similar to mstdn.jp and mastodon.cloud: to avoid #legal liabilities for not moderating enough (remember Pawoo's domain was briefly suspended in September? Also, the latter two were sold amid legislative efforts to combat #cyberbullying in #Japan ). This, be it recentralization or #moderation, should concern all #fediverse (especially #Japanese) users.

Mastodon, PixelFed, PeerTube, and other Fediverse admins of public servers might have to sort out legal issues and liability issues.

Some possible solutions is to create a join legal insurance and legal advice co-op. Admins could pay a monthly fee to gain access to an liability insurance fund and to establish best practices in maintaining their instances.

Mozilla launching its own #Mastodon instance in early 2023 could be a huge game changer. #Firefox has 200M+ active browser users and if #Mozilla can build something better for them with a connection to #fediverse, it can change the game.

Looking forward to another era of social media changes with #Friendelica, #PixelFed, #PeerTube, #Plume and many more such #OpenSource applications using #ActivityPub or other such protocols.
