    Just discovered the #Briar secure messaging app. Like #GNU #Ring and #Tox client it needs no server to pass messages between users (#P2P), and like #ServalProject aims to be able to do so even without an internet connection if the handsets are close enough together

    And is very clear on #commons and #P2P (though says most code comes from solo not collaboration!). Yet not a hint of coop ownership of #platforms to keep tools honest & open (GitHub!). Surely tools today become platforms? And platforms require collaboration even if code doesn't? So why doesn't #coop follow automatically, as we talk tools? How does libre not equal coop in FLOSS world?

    Who exactly are the users to be served by social.coop? Many producers, focused on producer-side stuff? Chloe Waratini wrote, Culture is what platforms & coops produce: culture for product/service users, & culture of producers for serving users. Perhaps users = producers? Maybe not

    Las #wikis editables que llevan ya tiempo en #Zeronet y algo en #beakerbrowser son herramientas muy potentes, capaces de crear bases de datos colaborativas y resilentes. Una biblioteca (amplia) allí sería un buen experimento.

    Los recursos de alojamiento en sí no son complicados. Cientos o miles de servidores autogestionados pueden dar el equivalente a más de un Google.

    Un vídeo para que lo vean las personas afines a un colectivo, a una zona geográfica no necesita ni de lejos los recursos de Google.
    Si cada cual almacena sus vídeos en local para que los vean las suyas cualquier servidor tiene teras de sobra y al verlo pocas personas no va a consumir mucho ancho de banda que es la otra parte del problema.

    Otra cosa es si el vídeo de nuestra asamblea o colectivo se convirtiese en tremending topic en el mundo mundial. A eso se refiere el desarrollador de #peertube y ahí entra en juego el #p2p. Pero ese puente deberíamos cruzarlo cuando lleguemos ¿no?

    Y sería bueno que cuando lleguemos dispongamos ya de una infraestructura sobre la que trabajar.

    La diferencia entre ser condenado o no por la supuesta descarga de una película mediante #P2P: "100 kilómetros" entre un juzgado y otro

    El motivo de la demanda era idéntico: haber puesto a disposición o haber difundido de forma directa o indirecta, supuestamente, una película mediante un programa P2P. La primera sentencia absolvió; la segunda ha condenado.

    Fue a principios de noviembre cuando tuvimos noticia de una decisión judicial histórica en España: el primer fallo sobre el uso de redes P2P. El Juzgado de lo Mercantil nº 1 de Donostia desestimó en su sentencia nº 239/17, dictada por el juez Pedro José Malagón Ruiz, "la demanda formulada [...] en nombre y representación de Dallas Buyers Club LLC" contra el demandado, "absolviendo a éste de los pedimentos formulados en su contra". Era el primer fallo en el caso Dallas Buyers Club.

    La resolución, contra la que no cabe recurso, exculpó a la parte demandada de haber cometido una infracción contra la propiedad intelectual al difundir la película que popularmente ha dado nombre al caso. El magistrado consideró "forzada" la calificación de comunicación pública en las redes de intercambio de archivos que hacía la parte demandante, asegurando que era "difícil admitir" que existiese, en el caso que juzgaba, "un propósito de difundir la obra".
