    He talks about attitude regarding change, and contempt culture, and the ideas that made systemd happen. It's a very informed calm discussion of both systemd features and community development. It's once again confirmed my positive impression of the BSD communities. #systemd

    Sometimes I feel like the only person who actually likes, and gets the need for, #systemd, but then I remember that for most people it just works(tm), so we never hear from them.

    My thing with sysvinit etc. was that when things stopped working, I never knew consistently where to start digging, what tools could I use with a particular script etc. - with systemd, I have a consistent set of tools I can use to add/modify and monitor my init system, something sysvinit simply didn't offer.

    Cómo montar un servidor de #VPN con #OpenVPN en #Debian 9 ( #systemd )

    Anteriormente expliqué detalladamente el proceso de instalación y configuración de un servidor OpenVPN, incluyendo la generación de certificados y configuración de clientes. En aquel momento utilizaba un servidor Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS. Ahora me tocó montar un nuevo servidor de VPN, pero esta vez sobre un sistema Debian 9 con systemd.

    En este artículo voy a explicar cuáles son los pasos necesarios para instalar correctamente OpenVPN en Debian 9, teniendo en cuenta las particularidades a tener en cuenta para que funcione con systemd. El proceso es muy similar al que cubre mucho más detalladamente el artículo Instalación y configuración de OpenVPN.

    Servicios Portables, los "contenedores" propios de #systemd » MuyLinux

    systemd es desde hace tiempo el init estándar de GNU/Linux, o al menos es el utilizado por defecto en la mayoría de las grandes distribuciones. Sus detractores lo acusan de “tragar” muchos componentes y de no ser portable a otros sistemas, pero es que systemd no pretende solo ser un init, sino todo un framework de sistema capaz de sacar lo mejor de GNU/Linux.

    El desarrollador principal y creador de systemd es Lennart Poettering, quien desde el principio ha defendido con ahínco las ventajas de su creación frente a productos de la competencia, como Upstart. Hoy os presentamos una característica que puede resultar bastante interesante, porque si algo tiene systemd es que quiere ser capar de hacer muchas cosas además de encargase de la gestión de los servicios. Hace un mes fue introducida en el repositorio de GitHub una nueva característica llamada portablectl, que hace referencia a Servicios Portables (Portable Services), una funcionalidad que puede recordar un poco a los contenedores de software, tema que en MuyLinux estamos tratando con mucha frecuencia en los últimos meses.     #MX-Linux ausprobiert und festgestellt, dass es leider doch #systemd enthält. Allerdings gibt es da einen kleinen Trick: #antiX und #MX-Linux nutzen beide die gleichen Repositories. Also lässt sich mit der Installation des entsprechenden XFCE-Packets #antiX direkt modifizieren. Insofern eine Korrektur: Das richtige, von #systemd befreite #GNU-Linux ist #antiX. #No-systemd #Free-and-Libre
