  Someone pointed me to Ayoba.me last night. They claim to have 25M monthly active users¹ and are using #XMPP. They have an XMPP server running on xmpp.ayoba.me and addresses are in the sha1(e164)@ayoba.me format. When you decompile the APK it appears as if the app was originally based on the GPLv3 licensed Kontalk.net (which uses the same address format). Definitivamente los clientes #xmpp que me sirven, son gajim y conversations.
Dino es bonito, y mas su minimalismo, pero no tener ciertas funcionales a mano o el como las presenta, no me resulta util.
Monocles y otras opciones para android, me saben a un gran copy/paste de conversations, que no aporta nada nuevo.
En fin. Es lo que queda... 😎👍

@monocles released a massively improved version of the #android #xmpp app #monocleschat (#fdroid ).
The input line has been redesigned. Emojis are easier to handle now. It should look more familiar to users of other messengers.
You can set a background for the chatview.
Reactions can be send more easily (message selection).
The usage of the HW AEC has been disabled for the #Fairphone4 leading to a better videocall experience for #FP4 owners.

Just for the record: what Google/FB did to #XMPP was not 'embrace, extend, extinguish'. I bring this up because people are focusing on FB developing a divergent protocol/extensions. Maybe that's a valid concern, but it's unrelated to XMPP.
While Google Talk was actively developed, Google folk actively participated in the community. In fact they contributed important extensions such as Jingle, the protocol we still use today for audio/video calls in XMPP, and other bits and pieces.
