    .@Blender's videos on #YouTube have now come back, but they are also being told by Google/YT that they HAVE to monetise them. #Blender are considering refusing, which presumably would mean the videos being taken down again:

Una de estas extensiones es Facebook Containers.

    Sin embargo, no solo Facebook supone un peligro para nuestra seguridad y nuestra privacidad, sino que otros gigantes de Internet, como Google, tampoco es que sean precisamente respetuosos con la privacidad de los usuarios. Y si hablamos de redes sociales de esta compañía, como es el caso de YouTube, mucho menos.

    Los vídeos que vemos en YouTube pueden generar una información muy valiosa para la compañía según nuestros gustos e intereses. Por ello, si queremos poder utilizar esta plataforma, pero hacerlo de manera que nada de lo que veamos en ella quede vinculado a nuestra cuenta, entonces una extensión que debemos probar es YouTube Container.

    YouTube es el portal de vídeos más visitado del mundo con diferencia, situación que lo ha convertido también en uno de los buscadores más usados. Sin embargo, al pertenecer a Google, no son pocas las personas que recelan de sus políticas de privacidad, por lo que puede surgir la necesidad de utilizarlo intentando dejar la menor cantidad de rastros posible.

    Eso es lo que pretende la aplicación FreeTube, una interfaz de YouTube para el escritorio centrado en evitar que Google recopile datos de los usuarios. Dicho de otra manera, está creado para salvaguardar la privacidad. Según nos cuentan en OSTechNix, tiene como características la posibilidad de ver vídeos sin publicidad; evita el rastreo mediante cookies y JavaScript; permite suscribirse sin necesidad de tener una cuenta; permite almacenar suscripciones, historiales y guardar vídeos localmente; respaldo e importación de suscripciones; un reproductor multimedia básico en HTML5; y temas oscuro y claro.

    ¿Realmente hace FreeTube lo que dice? Al menos en teoría tendría, ya que su código está publicado en GitHub bajo GPLv3. Por otro lado, su portabilidad resulta fácil al estar construido con tecnologías web, habiendo instaladores exe y ZIP para Windows y Deb, RPM y tar.xz para Linux x86_64 y ARM64. Después de instalarlo, queda en evidencia en la interfaz que estamos ante una aplicación construida con tecnologías web nada más ser abierta por primera vez.
