Printing some dinos for friends of ours. I'm using Polymax PLA which is very strong but always posed a bit of problem to get the support from the print. With the MK4 that has become much easier.

Before getting all too exited about #ChatGPT a quick reminder that the company developing it, #OpenAI, is founded by Elon Musk and funded by PeterThiel. Musk known for his dubious ethics to say the least and Thiel is the man that prefers autocratic regimes over democracy because it serves his capitalist interests better. Besides that he's founder and chairman of Palantir, a surveillance platform deeply involved with the national security state. Now would you trust your data to these people?

Mastodon and the #Fediverse as a whole can be regarded as part of an effort to fix the internet. Done by people that want to keep the good things of the internet and get rid of the bad things.

In 2010 Eben Moglen gave a speech where he clearly explained what's wrong with the internet and how it could be fixed. This speech still serves as a good introduction for people eager to know why this is still relevant and why the Fediverse is important.

Thanks to political push back Meta has suspended the plans to build a datacenter in the Netherlands (Zeewolde). That's truly great news.

It's a project of the MetaBrainz Foundation, a non-profit that believes in free, open access to data.
