i decided to make a graph of toots/hour by each instance in the top ten based on the stats from @federationbot

the first chart contains a line for the total toots, this made the individual instances to small to see, so the second chart doesn't have it

I don't think silencing mastodon.social makes sense, the problems with ms are exaggerated some people look for things to use against gargron, which are often misrepresented.
The issue of the size of ms relative to the rest of the fedivers is much less severe than it used to be, sign ups are closed and ms users are not a major nuisance that I've noticed

Also unless things have changed silencing an instant brakes threads for people on the instance doing the silencing, which is inconvenient

I think that people are most likely to move to other instances if they interact with people on other instances, so it's possible hindering communication would be counter productive to this goal
