- refers to a set of proposals to deliberately intervene in Earth systems on a mega-scale.
- give the appearance of being daring and science-based, but are unproven and dangerous.
- does not address the root causes of the climate crisis: economic inequity, environmental injustice, unlimited economic growth & greenhouse gas emissions.
- the fossil fuel industry is among its biggest funders.

I’m frustrated by how often solar punks and post-civs talk about ‘turning our lawns into vegetable gardens’

Villa lawns and golf courses are bad, but the tiny lawn of our living groups is the one place in the sun where we can exist as queer, or mad, or nude as we like and the grass playgrounds in the neighbourhood provide local community building.

And these ‘lawns’ provide a free place to relax in a world where most recreation is commercialized.

So my solar punk future has lawns.

Probably one of the biggest unacknowledged impacts of capitalism on our life is the artificial scarcity of time.

Without capitalism, we could all work less. We could rest more. We could let selfcare, play and creation come intuitively. A lot of things don’t need to be scheduled.
We could just let time happen without any obligation to make a particular use of it.

An uninterrupted 24/7 church service was held in a The Hague church for 96 days to prevent the police from entering the building and deporting a refugee family.

Almost a thousand preachers spoke during the 2.300 hours of service.

The service was ended on January 30th, 2019, as new legislation was agreed upon that allowed the family to stay in the Netherlands.
