Why hunt for another 50 years of research for fusion energy when this big ball of fusion called the sun lights up our days? And we can convert it’s power to electricity since many years?
@tim@codewiz That's too brutal ;) It would also block my laptop from getting emails as my ISP also "forgot" to set correct PTRs and hostnames. That's why I grep for "failed" and "reject" :)
Tomorrow is Ascension. Or Dads day in Germany. Where drunken dads walk around with their Bollerwagen celebrating themselves. I have to admit. I’m a bad dad as I never did that. Sorry, my children. I’ve always preferred to be there for you :)
Welcome to the return of the Robber Barons. Now let’s define who is which reincarnation. Is Peter Thiel the new James Fisk? Jeff Bezos the new John Jacob Astor? Elon Musk the new John D. Rockefeller? I smell a fantastic movie script of parallel worlds ;) https://www.britannica.com/topic/robber-baron
Small companies like http://masto.host and http://spacebear.ee offer you really affordable hosting of Mastodon, Pixelfed, Peertube instances. Be your own Elon Musk and as added bonus own your data in better ways :)
@tagomago@michel_slm Which is why I have embraced patience and stubbornness as my personal superpower ;) Compared to 20 years ago, many things have already changed towards the better side. This will continue. Temporary setbacks won’t change the direction we’re collectively taking.
Modeling a full #embargo on #Russian gas for Germany, worst case scenario, with 5 industry sectors coming to a full stop over night, results in a reduction of GDP of around 3%. Tough, but manageable. We had a pandemic drop of 4% and are still here. Source: various research. 1/2
Dear @UN@twitter.com Why is Russia still member of the security council and why does it still have veto power? Shouldn’t an aggressor at least get veto power suspended?
@cassidyjames the big lesson, that is often counterintuitive to hierarchical companies, is that giving up ownership and control in exchange for participation delivers better results, lower cost and more happy people. Weird ;)
We have seen companies forking open source projects and add features that didn’t go upstream. And how they learned the hard way that this approach means they now “own” their fork and have to support it.
