@cassandreces it helped that I had 2 years of course work, but honestly I still feel like I have a ongoing catch up work to do, post-PhD. Honestly, teaching intro classes helps enormously, even if it has its extra work requirements.

So I definitely assigned way too much writing for this intro to the research essay. Not for my students, but for my own compulsive editing self. (I gigged as an editor to pay bills during my Masters and evidently can't lay down my sword).

@Cyborgneticz I killed my laptop keyboard halfway through my PhD and just switched to an external. It was fine (and better for my neck!)

@Analog at NYU we came right up to our strike deadline and got a good contract. We were with UAW and strike pay & insurance was guaranteed for working (well, not anymore) members. There was an unsuccessful strike a decade before, broken in part because the admin threatened/bluffed that it would illegally rescind the visas of int. students. So ask your organizers to get out on front of that.

The latter is causing me considerable psychic anguish
