Just completed my first start to finish production coding task, done for a client, since my arms & hands developed problems almost 2 years ago.

Got it done thanks to Kubuntu Linux, XP-Pen 16TP pen display, VSCodium, OnBoard screen keyboard, Talon Voice, and the Audio-Technica Pro 8 HEx microphone.

In other words, wouldn't have been possible for me without the FOSS community. There's no functional equivalent for the above setup on Mac/Windows/Android/iOS.

Was really nice to be coding again.

Picturing all alternative future where I have Plasma Bigscreen on my TV, and I watch creations from the now thriving PeerTube community instead of YouTube.

My repairable phone is running Plasma mobile, and between the now very healthy web app ecosystem that runs flawlessly on either Gnome web or Falkon, plus the wide availability of cross platform software, I'm no longer pressured to resort to walled garden app stores.

Basically everyone in the FOSS community has long since - 1/4

@doctormo Funnily enough that's what I was in the middle of doing. My microphone stopped working as I was dictating with Talon, because the USB failed.

It's hot today so I'm guessing heat damage.

This would be a good time to ask. I've been contemplating the ideal machine for FOSS graphics apps for a while anyway and might have to spring for new hardware now - I gather RAM and CPU would be a higher priority vs GPU for Inkscape than other applications. Is that accurate?

I use non-destructive workflows for most of what I do in Krita. It definitely has more non-destructive functions than gimp currently does.

The specifics depend on what you're trying to do, e.g. cutting out, transforming, colour correcting etc. But as a general rule look at layer masks like transparency, filter and transform masks.

These apply non-destructive changes directly to layers. Transform masks can get laggy though, but are still very useful.

I watched Encanto because I saw a bunch of people to whom I relate saying they related to the film.

At the end I just felt sad, for two main reasons:

1. Everyone, including her family, loved and accepted her for who she is even though she was different. My brain just said, lol like that's ever going to happen.

2. I was so mad on behalf of the Bruno character. He's done nothing wrong, has love for his family, and yet they mistreat him so badly he's driven to live secretly in the walls with only rats as friends. Then with no apology whatsoever he's expected to reintegrate back into the family like he hasn't just spent years in rejection driven isolation.

I thought the film was going to be uplifting for those who are different but for me it spotlighted the ways it sucks

Overtax myself > feel bad > figure out ways to feel better > do those things > oh good it works now I can push harder > get busy > stop doing the things > ...

Repeat ad nauseum.
