#introduction Hello everyone, I'm a Free Software programmer and left-wing thinker. I'm currently working on the Inkscape project with a new direct from the user funding model (Patreon/LiberaPay) and like to talk about technology, philosophy, science, skepticism and many many other things.
If you need help with Inkscape, please do message me.
This week, I talk about @inkscape@twitter.com hiring a project coordinator, crash fixes, copying and pasting nodes and pdf labels. Come check out my full update video: https://youtu.be/XnlAn-K4JHE
The government is us. It sucks, because we suck. We choose to be uncooperative jerks to each other, inventing more and more exotic excuses for why the economy (that is defined by how cooperative we are capable of being) is suffering because of something other than the deliberate politics of our desire to be uncooperative jerks to each other.
@tagomago I researched Patreon quite a bit before I joined up. And before that a service called Subbable.
So far, the company has been reasonably transparent about it's workings. It supports many of the international locations that are hard to get access to (and probably took a lot of work for their legal team) and they issue tax documents for you to help file your taxes at the end of the year.
For a creator, their system is less work than say LiberaPay (also good) but their website is basic.
