@coldacid Wait until you get made a middle manager, then you'll miss the days that you DID hate working in software development.

@codewiz @coldacid Indeed. Problem is good coders love to code, but when you turn them into managers they get grumpy because there’s too many meetings and not enough coding. Then just spend all their free time playing an escapist video game like Animal Crossing.

@codewiz @coldacid All I know is my spouse was a lot happier when he was coding than he is now that he spends most of his time managing coders.
The extra pay is nice, but money isn’t everything. He’s a coder geek at heart management doesn’t scratch that itch.

Eventually working for your “dream company”, becomes just another job. Especially since he’s been WFH since March 2020. Silicon Valley is a stupidly expensive place to be working from home.
