The next few months are going to be a very dissociative state, where when I'm supposed to be at work I'll be thinking about the move and the issues there, and when I'm supposed to be packing to move I'll be fussing about work stuff that needs to get done. 🙄 It's looking like it's going to take three weeks longer than I'd like, at this point.

But it feels amazingly normal, to be moving. Nostalgic. I am probably using it as a Reset button.

@tagomago oh! When we sold our house before, we just paid the bank mortgage off of the sale--the buyer gets their own new mortgage. I've heard of transferring the mortgage, but I don't know why anyone would do that.

@tagomago I dont know what subrogate means. What are you asking? It may not be something our housing market does ...

@tagomago Renting is worse in the current market where we are. You can basically rent a washstand for 2/3 of a mortgage...

Long drive today and of course no sleep last night. 🙄 the last few hours are going to be a challenge, later tonight! We're off to buy a house (right up there on the Most Stressful Things To Do list) in another state (because let's ratchet up the stress another notch) to move and start a new job this summer that has more potential but less reliability than my current one (hello fear, my old friend--I've come to talk to you again...). I'd say I'm too old for this s*** but apparently, not yet.

It's Saturday! 😁 Got a grocery delivery coming early, so that gives me an excuse to sit with my phone and goof off while waiting...

Anyone know why sometimes my Home feed just stops at 15 minutes' worth of entries, or 30 minutes' previous, and the "load more" does nothing? Federated and local toots from before that always load fine, but Home will occasionally cut me off from posts longer than some short period ago.

Could that happen if I'm following someone on a wonky instance? It seems to happen at random times.

Life is just demmed tricky. I'm high on stress and low on feel-good neuro transmitters right now--as so many are.

@encelado @tagomago Sure, suggest away! I imagine I'll always be shonen at heart, it's the same part of me that gets all warm and fuzzy for swords and sorcery, but I'll give it a go-- what would you recommend? 😉

@tagomago It's very silly, if I recall. Formative for certain aspects of the genre at the time, both for the storyline and the author, though! Worth seeing, just to have seen it--and it's pretty funny. 😁

@tagomago Well y'know, Ranma 1/2 was an interesting piece. I loved it when I first saw it (which, surprisingly, was very close to when it came out), and yeah, it's all about physical gender flipping. But I didn't see it as being all that interesting about emotional/psychological gender, you know? It's all about boobs popping in and out--definitely important!--but not much about the internal state.

#anime Yeah ok, I'm back in love with #OnePiece again. 😁 I think it might be the most gender-fluid anime ever! When Okiku who's been the tea-house waitress running around in a kimono is recognized as previously known as "the most beautiful swordsman in the country" and everyone's like, "you're a GUY?" and Kiku says, "I've always been a woman in my heart"--and the story moves on as though, ok, this is not a big deal, on we go. 😁 😂 🥰

Happy major holiday for those who are celebrating--it's a big weekend for a lot of folks around the world.

Is there a way to see a graph of which instances in the fediverse have connections to other instances, across all the different platforms? A web of fediverse, as it were? Seems like that *could* be built...

/cont. But when they asked about our interests we both looked a little blank. My colleague finally said she liked people; I realized and blurted out that I don't really like people per se. I like the digital world, the text interface, the ability to disengage when needed but the ability to interact with everyone everywhere (all at once! No, just kidding). I like how putting out a distress signal gets me 20 little pats on the back, without spending hours on the phone repeating my story. Huh.

Heh--I was chatting with a colleague sitting out on a patio at the school the other day, and some students doing a business class assignment came up to do a survey. They wanted to know about our coffee use, our social media use, our response to ads, our sense of our own interests, etc. 😂 Way to spoof our passwords through social engineering, if they weren't actually students! but we were willing to bet they were. I put in a plug for Mastodon (he looked blank at the term Fediverse). 😁

It's kind of surprising to me, how much clicking over to the Mastodon tab makes me calm down when work is stressful... Everyone is doing stuff (or not), being creative (or not), being happy or depressed or commenting on deep stuff or light stuff. It's a nice reboot for the ol' neural networks. :BigBlobhajHug:

@tagomago @imgn Thanks! I guess I need to find people there and follow them explicitly from here if I want to see them regularly in my Home page, though... I was hoping I could filter my Federated feed to get the toots from there, somehow.

So if I'm not on scholar.social but I want to see everyone on scholar.social, is there a way to do that? or do I have to make an account there as well?
