My attempt at polenta. But I dice a tomato, cut some sausages, and add polenta, water, & cumin into the rice cooker and then walk away. No stirring for me.

En Taiwán hay monzones, pero aquí todo el mundo usa paraguas. Sin embargo, no se usan paraguas en los tifones. Entonces usan ponchos para la lluvia. Nunca tuve un paraguas en Canadá, pero tengo varios aquí.

This is a good opportunity to ask about the quality of rum in Uruguay. I know Brazil makes cachaça, but I haven't tried it yet. Have you ever seen rum from Barbados or Jamaica (other than Myers's) in liquor stores there? Perhaps Appleton, Worthy Park, Foursquare, or Doorly's?

I agree 100%. It's very much from the West, but it's spreading globally. The Far East and Southeast Asia are bucking this trend, but I can easily see it coming here, too. Once people start thinking of their own interests over society's, it's over.

@santiago The visuals were great, and the acting was good--especially the little girl! But the plot had problems. It was either too easy or really difficult to do something, depending on what the story required at that moment. The pace and timing of the ending was way off.

And the movie was heavily inspired by the Vietnam War and the War on Terror. That's not bad in general, but it's a HUGE slap in the face to Ukraine in this time of dire need of America on the world stage.

It's unfortunate the movie wasn't better written because there's a huge lack of original, high-concept Sci-fi. Right now, only Christopher Nolan is able to put together compelling stories. If the writing and plotting had been better, it could have motivated movie studios to invest in something other than comic-book superheroes. However, I think it's just going to harden Hollywood on only bringing existing IPs to film.

If we have to, it won't be for a while yet. Xi Jinping is having some economic and political trouble. If that lasts, we should be OK here. The success of Ukraine's counter-offensive will likely also give Chinese politicians and army generals some concern. A lot also depends on the next Taiwanese and American elections, both in 2024. I'm still preparing as a back-up plan, though, because a lot can happen in 3‐4 years.
