ar.al🌻 (aral@mastodon.ar.al)'s status on Tuesday, 11-Dec-2018 22:57:12 UTC ar.al🌻 I‘ve now submitted a pull request for mdbook that, if/when merged, will serve web fonts locally and not hit Google’s servers:
https://github.com/rust-lang-nursery/mdBook/pull/848
In the meanwhile, if you want to create Google-free #Rust documentation, feel free to use my fork:

The generated book has Google tracking because the Rust mdbook tool comes with Google surveillance by default.
Weigh in on this issues if you care about changing that:

That’s right… you get tracked! And you expose your visitors to third-party tracking.
Isn’t #SurveillanceCapitalism fun?

ar.al🌻 (aral@mastodon.ar.al)'s status on Friday, 07-Dec-2018 10:50:46 UTC ar.al🌻 Company A makes a product used by 60% of the world.
This, rightly, worries people. When Company C’s product (used by 3% of the world) switches to using the core of Company A’s product folks suggest people use Company B’s product (used by 5% of the world).
Plot twist: Company B gets ~all its money (hundreds of millions of $) from Company A.
Welcome to the sewer of monopoly, institutional corruption and surveillance capitalism we lovingly call The Web circa 2018.

ar.al🌻 (aral@mastodon.ar.al)'s status on Wednesday, 28-Nov-2018 11:09:09 UTC ar.al🌻 Ethical design isn’t about trying to reform billion-dollar corporations like Google and Facebook that have fundamentally unethical business models, it’s about designing organisations with ethical business models that, therefore, can create ethical products and services.

There are a couple of other improvements I want to make to the bookmarks feature that will hopefully make adding bookmarks (and especially working with tags) easier.
