Nice write-up by Carlos, long time contributor, about the future of advanced tablet pad support in #GIMP: https://blogs.gnome.org/carlosg/2023/06/16/getting-the-best-of-tablet-pads/
Mostly #Wayland-only (Linux) for now, though #GTK will hopefully get backends for Windows and macOS eventually!
The code is still in review, but not doubt it will be in GIMP by the 3.0 release. Very exciting!
Want to contribute to #GIMP but not in code? What about helping write the documentation? ✍️
Jacob Boerema, GIMP's doc maintainer, welcome volunteers! 🤗

#GIMP now supports importing and exporting clipping paths for PSD files! Thanks to Nikc for the implementation and Jacob Boerema for their patient review and feedback.
GIMP is now 27 🎂. And with the end of the year, time of giving and donations, it is also a good time to remind that sustainable development can be achieved by funding the developers of the software. 😊

We officially revived the developer website!

It should help for new contributor inboarding and plug-in developers. It's still work-in-progress and quite incomplete but published in a release early, release often logic.
Thanks to @patdavid (who made our main website and pixls.us), Jehan (@zemarmot project and GIMP maintainer), Robin Swift (new contributor who helped us a lot here) and Lukas Oberhuber (macOS package maintainer)!
Development news: thanks to Massimo and Nikc contributions, the next #development version (2.99.14, the branch which will end up in stable GIMP 3.0) of #GIMP will have an outline feature in text layers.
You will be able to choose the outline color, or even a pattern, outline width, outline antialiasing and the line style (if you want a dash pattern rather than continuous lines and so on). It's pretty featureful.
So as we are now on Mastodon, I wanted to do things properly and add a "Share on Mastodon" link on news articles (which is a bit harder than with centralized networks as people need to specify their instance).
Screencast below is how it looks right now (on testing website only for now).
Code for people needing to do something similar: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/gimp-web/-/commit/1f52d2279ee8edd37795e2aeeef28efdfdf824f5
Hello World!
GIMP project now gets a new official Mastodon account! 🥳
We can see the info leaked somehow (we had not announced it and already got 150+ followers in 2 days) 😂.
GIMP news will be coming here too, from now on!
