@bri_seven @blacklight @SallyStrange like old BBSes ecosystem, maybe. I've been thinking about this issue. I don't have any conclusions yet. I mean, from a philosophycal point of view, federation is in fact, utopian. Each server has its own fediverse horizon and then aru, differents parts of the same reality. Is it worth it? Is the fediverse possible in the sense not to end as a transitory state between corporate social media and local/isolated social groups?

@blacklight @SallyStrange Yes! item 1 explains it all. I totally support instances blocking threads! but instances blocking other instances? that is poor admin practices that hurt the fediverse, in my opinion. Maybe, i'll say even that those supporting that practices, are aligning with those who wants to see the fediverse fail.

@SallyStrange @blacklight i think it's a huge price that you are making pay your users. You gain no extra nothing, by blocking instances that don't defederate threads. The line is there, if you defedrate them, that' it. They shall not pass, not a ningle bit of information is coming in or out, even on retoots by other instances, nothing. Any extra blocking is only hurting the network of servers and only reflects poor knowledge of how federation occurs. It's more like a political statement like if you are not with me, you are with them thing, that cannot be applied to a communication protocol, in my opinion.

What i'm saying is that, what about bipoc/queer people in instances that don't defedrate threads? i could say even bipoc/queer peoplemin threads also? why i have to pay the price if i have no single contact/follow from threads?

@blacklight @SallyStrange totally agree with you Fabio. We haven't decided yet what to do, but already notice this need to punish instances that not defedrate Threads. Why not a third layer of blocking? or fourth? come on, this is nonsense. There is no way any bit of information from threads can go to a thread-blocking instance.
