Slightly revised the new Sakura icon on Sakurajima Social to make it more apparent, the lighter colors make it difficult to make it out.

Still doing adjustments to the new icon, will eventually get deployed when I’m happy with it.

We made some modifications to our fork of Sharkey, and now viewing the bubble timeline is now possible to view the bubble timeline. Basically, using Sakurajima Social without logging in, you can get a birdeye view of the biggest Japanese media-focused fediverse servers.

To view the timeline, go to sakurajima.social and then click “Have a look at the timeline" You can see the local timeline on Sakurajima Social or the bubble timeline for Sakurajima Mastodon and Urusai Social.

To interact with posts, get the link by clicking the three dots, Copy link (Origin) and paste it in the search box on your homeserver.

On this Friday at 10 PM, we will be moving our email server, ANN RSS Bot and animebot (holo) to the new server. This will be the next step before moving Sakurajima Mastodon on February 9th at 10 PM ET.

Anything that require email sending, such as new account signups and password resets will be unavailable until the new Email server is configured with the domain name.

Elk client will move with the Mastodon server. We will eventually add an Akkoma-fe as an option for Sakurajima Mastodon

Mastodon is now updated with a reworked compose window. Note that some options have completely changed with this move with the upcoming release of Mastodon 4.3.

Unlisted is now considered “Quiet Public” and Direct Mention is now “Specific People."

Also, the Tennor Gif Picker is now added to Sakurajima, which is cherrypicked from the Chuckya fork of Mastodon. This only applies to the Glitch flavor of the Mastodon interface.

If you are wondering how do I use the new GIF picker on Sakurajima Mastodon that we added today.
1. Click the image icon.
2. Select Upload GIF
3. Search for a GIF you want to add
4. Click on an image and it will automatically upload. Note that you might need to adjust search terms to see more results.

Note: This is only available on Mastodon Web. some Mastodon clients may have a GIF picker built in. Also, you have to be using the Glitch flavor of the Mastodon interface.

Sakurajima Mastodon Tip: If you are using the web interface, you can leave reactions like on MisskeyFirefish, Akkoma, Fedibird, and Mastodon Glitch-SOC, which has this patched installed at the moment. This feature is still being worked on and will eventually make it to Glitch-Soc.

By clicking the + button, you can leave a reaction with an emoji that is available. In addition, you can click on any existing emoji to leave an existing one as well.

Feditext iOS client is the only client as of now that allows reactions from a Glitch Mastodon instance that has the feature.

Sakurajima Mastodon Only: We finally updated the Mastodon Modern themes and it now fully works with the glitch features. Now, the user experience on our Mastodon web UI Will be more fun.

Look for the modern variants in the Preferences: Flavours > Glitch and select any of the Mastodon Modern variants.

The modern version of the theme will now be the default.

Thanks to the Reddit growth spike, along with being listed on Fedi Gaden and Join Mastodon, we are seeing growth. It's all thanks to the ensittification of Twitterand Reddit and people simply having enough of being mistreated.

This will be a trend that centralized platforms will face as they start to realize that they can't keep losing money as VC funding dries up with interest rates rising. Cohost just recently revealed they are losing $41k a month.

Thankfully, our operation doesn’t require expensive servers as we are running services for the fediverse, which makes hosting our services more affordable.

When IceShrimp .Net enters beta, we will have a third backup fediverse server separate from the main one (hosted completely in a different location, but it will be only be used by staff), which will give an alternate channel in case of emergencies.

We will eventually explore the possibly of making our services redundant when we plan to move to our own servers (hardware) colocated somewhere in the distant future But that will be for another day.

We are transparent with backups and backup admins. Note that all data is backed up every day in two different locations, so you can be rest assured that we will get back up one way or another.
