[this is not a rant]
There's one thing I don't like about #Openstreetmaps (the web version); local alphabets. When for example I view Greece, I see the Greek alphabet and in Egypt I see the Arab alphabet. Of course it's also the way around. Imagine being Chinese and trying to find your way in Europe.
@raucao Ah, a Microsoft fanboy.
@raucao I agree with everything, except your statement that Gitlab is on the same level as Github regarding code hosting. Since it's now Microsoft Github, it's worse (until Gitlab is bought by something similar). You can always host your code on something like https://framagit.org.
Gitea looks promising, but I can't find a reason why their code is hosted on Github (see https://gitea.io/). Don't they trust their own product?
@rysiek Regarding the #SaveYourInternet vote, does anyone have the votes divided by political groups? It would be more interesting than by country, as I am seen often in these days...
Wat waren jullie toch verontwaardigd over Trump hè?
@pixelfed
Hosting on #Github is not making it accessible to everyone. Me and others removed our Github account after Microsoft bought it. And many FOSS projects left Github for the same reason. Actually, Pixelfed should do the same.
#Facebook removed a post quoting the Declaration of Independence on July 4 for violating standards against hate speech, which the Declaration did, indeed, contain https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/nation-now/2018/07/05/facebook-removes-post-declaration-independence/759939002/
If you don't like the way society is shaped, those also didn't liked it:

...so they revolted. They also wrote books so others can learn from their struggle.
You can read them, but you don't have to in order to revolt our current situation.
All it needs is the will, and you'll find a way to start somewhere. Start from where you are.

"We applaud the results of this vote by the European Parliament as it now provides an opportunity for open discussion to create a balanced, modern copyright system for Europe."

@nolan So you are not stopping development of Pinafora? Cause I was just going to install it on Todon.nl.
One request though: Translations (well, the option to add translations)
So, this is how this looked from the inside. The timelaps is from the 2 days(!).
This is you guys at work. Each green dot means someone reached out to an MEP and convinced them.
You have the power. #SaveYourInternet
RT @Senficon@twitter.com: We did it! But now we must plan the next step: On August 26th, let's have a #SaveYourInternet action day to send the message: We will not accept a copyright reform that includes #uploadfilters or the #linktax. Are you in?
I quote @Senficon from birdsite now:
Great success: Your protests have worked! The European Parliament has sent the copyright law back to the drawing board. All MEPs will get to vote on #uploadfilters and the #linktax September 10–13. Now let's keep up the pressure to make sure we #SaveYourInternet!
All you wonderful people, you have helped #SaveYourInternet.
Thank you so much to all of you involved directly and indirectly, supporting this by calling, mailing, talking, or just rooting for the right outcome.
Internet is not to be messed with.
They will now say that we were all paid by Google. They will all say that this was Facebook and Twitter lobbying.
But we know otherwise! We have been there. We've seen it happen.
We made it happen.
This is how you change the world for the better.
💩 I missed something. That's what you get when you forget following the news for a day.
Good news!

Although (as usual) I'm skeptic about a modified law and the re-vote in September.
RT @ecpoir@twitter.com: After every nationalistic gathering in #Greece, there is an orchestrated violent attack against squats, immigrant residences etc. This one is from yesterday: fascists in helmets attacked a free social space in #Thessaloniki. Those inside defended themselves and the building. https://twitter.com/dromografos/status/1014743587085520896
