@dosnostalgic I just never cleaned my monitors instead, using the resulting dust layer as anti-glare.

@dosnostalgic Other than some added graphical fluff, the main interface elements totally look like they've been lifted verbatim from Interstel's Star Fleet series...

@dosnostalgic I notice they even have audio - tried a DOSBox capture, but it then plays with wrong colours in VLC...

I'll look into uploading the files, but I currently have no idea where this stuff comes from and what's in there.

Searching for MASL finds this old web page, which seems to have software and a couple of animations too: www.inetmie.or.jp/~kot/masl.htm (not a hotlink on purpose so it doesn't get hit by all the Fediverse for previews).

I found an old CD (like 1995) that contains .MSL files and a viewer for what seems like short anime strips?

I had no idea this existed, much less in one of my drawers...

    *sigh*?

What's with all these preview cards that my mastodon fetches?

That's about the laziest attempt at fake GDPR compliance I've seen up to now...

@rysiek Yeah, embargo has just been broken: https://efail.de/

HTML parsing in email clients is to blame, no problems when working in plain-text mode.

Some time after Mastodon switched to ActivityPub, I'd started graphing how many accounts my small instance on the edge of the network knows via OStatus vs. ActivityPub.
As it turns out, all of the growth comes from ActivityPub accounts, while OStatus is basically a flatline. Note that I do absolutely block some instances, both of the Mastodon and of the GNU social variety.
