Bring down Sri Lanka’s Rajapakse government! Abolish the executive presidency! No to austerity and starvation! Form action committees to fight for a socialist program of action to secure food, fuel and medicines for all! https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2022/04/07/sril-a07.html
@veer66 Of course I am in Sri Lanka. Protests continue to spread across the country. The government is doing everything to stay in power while the official (parliamentary) opposition parties seek ways to establish an interim government. All factions in the political establishment are in agreement about IMF-prescribed austerity measures. This, however, will increase the burden on broad sections of the population. We already have a serious food, medicine and fuel shortage.
Mastodon, Bitchute, Steemit, blah, blah. Isn't it clear that, if Mastodon ever got near Facebook's reach, it would be subject to exactly the same political pressures to censor as Facebook. Switching networks isn't any kind of solution
Dear all, I am looking to compile a list of Sinhala and English books by Sri Lankan authors available in Tamil translation. Please let me know what you know.
And please give me pointers on where to find more information.
If #WhatsApp and #Facebook want us to believe this, they can come clean by making their platform's source codes free and open, so people can inspect and verify the claim that they no longer keep copies of those "vanished" messages.
#WhatsApp lets messages vanish after seven days, it says. Yes, messages will vanish from the sender and recipient. Not from the service provider's servers! This gives nothing more than a false sense of #privacy. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-54825021
I wish we could get more comprehensive information like this instead of simple statements that create panic. The source should give more details but journalists should also be asking follow up questions without just copy pasting statements. https://twitter.com/dinukaari/status/1314461401797148672
Sri Lanka Telecom not only failed to provide a functional website to register for the so-called ebill service; they also disconnected our phone/broadband/TV without delivering the bills. We received two bills days later. It was the worst service we had during the lockdown period.
