    No hablo de usar sino de defender el software BSD, y eso en mi opinión implica aceptar que el software privativo se pueda aprovechar de ese software libre. En ese contexto es en el que encuentro la incoherencia con el hecho de que se critique a quien usa software privativo.

    Otra cosa muy distinta es que se dijera, uso *BSD porque me gusta y es libre pero no me gusta que su licencia permita su aprovechamiento por el software privativo. Entonces sí podría ser coherente el criticar el uso del software privativo. Pero claro en ese caso lo que deberiamos tener es un *BSD con licencia GPL.

    Te pongo un ejemplo, a ver si no lo lío más :-)
    Tenemos el software A con licencia GPL
    Alguien quiere modificar A pero licenciar la modificación con una licencia privativa.
    La GPL se lo impide.
    Si la GPL y BSD fueran compatibles entonces ocurriría lo siguiente:
    Ese "alguien" hace una pequeña modificación de A y lo licencia con BSD (a esta modificación la llamo B)
    Como BSD permite que se puedan usar licencias privativas en las modificaciones, hace una modificación de B y usa una licencia privativa para la modificación.
    El resultado es que tendriamos un software privativo que deriva de un software GPL (deriva de B que a su vez deriva de A).
    Por tanto BSD y GPL no pueden ser compatibles.
