@mangeurdenuage > Imo it's a good os for the average joe who's migrating from windows
Sadly using an older kernel, shipping without non-free drivers (as much as it hurts me to admit that), and with old versions of e.g. LibreOffice and GIMP is counter-productive. The worst part is, you can go and get Debian if you want the same freedom, ease-of-use and stability. I just don't see the point.

> I'm testing it since the first alpha and I didnβt get any of the troubles that trisquel 7 brought me the first time I used it a few years ago.
Huh, I also used Trisquel 7 since its release (as proven earlier by my screenshots, which are taken from my... Google+... page...) and that worked pretty smoothly. I don't have a single complaint as Linux-libre was already a 100% compatible with my Mac, and it felt very stable and polished. This, not so much, especially visual details.

@mangeurdenuage They probably don't care as much about having up-to-date software but I find it very important to keep up with new stuff for a productive environment. That can be indeed hard to maintain. So if it *has* to take them this long, it they can't be any ambitious, *at least* don't release at the same time as the next Ubuntu LTS. You're settling on a version that is immediately obsolete, even if still with security support, and I believe this severly restricts the utility of Trisquel.

> The team is very small.
I am very aware, I'm also aware that they have to clean out Ubuntu from non-free software and had to move from GNOME 2 to MATE. But I also know that pretty much every other distro updates at a faster pace, even with dramatic changes. I don't think a small team justifies it.
