También sigue abierta la petición de espacio en la zona de mesas para comunidades relacionadas con software libre, hardware libre o cultura libre, donde podrás hablar sobre tu comunidad de forma informal.

Pero no todo se limita a charlas y talleres, también tenemos un espacio misceláneo para otro tipo de propuestas como artículos, pósters, tablón de proyectos o cualquier otro formato que pienses que pueda ser interesante.

En 2006 twitter abrió sus puertas. Eran tiempos de la "Blogesfera" en los que Enrique Dans escribía largos textos.

Todo el mundo tenía un blog en wordpress o blogspot generalmente. Enlazaban a otros en el sidebar.

Euh... Unpopular opinion perhaps, but seriously, #Ubuntu seems way harder to maintain than #Debian.

Probably not a lot of people know this now, but Mastodon's web app started out with "Publish". In 2016 a famous YouTuber jokingly offered to support Mastodon's Patreon forever if I changed the button to say "Toot" instead. Needless to say, this was a really early, and not very informed decision. The first glimpse of attention and financial support. As a non-native speaker I had no idea there was another meaning.

Developing Mastodon, I strive to use terminology that is familiar to as many people as possible so as to not put up unnecessary barriers in understanding. For this reason I am happy that we went away from calling posts "toots". It has always been a point of friction for people. Not that I dislike branding, quite the opposite, but in my experience receiving feedback over half a decade, it had a negative effect on the platform for little benefit.

I finished reading World Wide Waste by Gerry McGovern. I'd consider it essential reading for anyone working with computers!

It's well cited (though I still need to check those citations) & uses maths effectively to make it's point.

That computers + (surveillance) capitalism is actually worse for the environment than the predigital era. That we can and must move slow and fix things, and fund that vital work directly.
