I invested some time theming git-delta, and here's how it looks now:

@ClickHouseCI git diff disables the pager and the color sequences when the output is redirected to a file or a pipe.

So in this case git-delta wouldn't even be executed 👍

In the previous scene, for no apparent reason the Mazinger heads the wrong way! Surprised, Tetsuya says: "ma dove va?" (where the heck is it going?) and chases after it.

From this point on, the sequence resumes with a nominal "agganciamento!" (docking) and "pronti al combattimento!" (ready to fight).

You might be wondering whether this high-speed maneuver is 100% safe.

And indeed, it could fail quite badly, but the Brain Condor is made of super resistant alloys:

The only Brain Condor docking sequence I could find on YouTube is in Italian, and even if you can't understand the rest, you should clearly hear the pilot Koji Kabuto yelling "Brian Condor, via!"

Go Nagai kept rehashing and refining the Pilder concept in following Mazinger seires.

My favorite was the Brain Condor (pronounced Brian Condor by the Italian dubbers 🤦♂️), for which I can't find any good still images.

I had to ask ChatGPT what the heck is a "Pilder" (Pairudā), and it said:

«It's the hovercraft that docks into the head of Mazinger Z to control it. "Pileder On" refers to the action of the Pileder connecting with Mazinger Z, essentially "turning on" the robot.»

In the Italian adaption, this weird hybrid aircraft was renamed to Aliante Slittante (sliding gllider), which is both cringy and wrong.

Evidently, the dubbers weren't aerospace engineers.

Let's talk about #neovim theming for #coding.

I'm tired of hand-tuning my long list of highlight rules, so I commented out everything and installed a theme which seems to be carefully designed, documented and, crucially, actively maintained:

@awoodsnet Indeed, that's why I went with github_dark_high_contrast, which perhaps has too much contrast.

This is the demo screenshot. I customized a few things and I'm quite pleased with the mechanism to override palette elements and highlight groups.

@wez I find this last paragraph intriguing:

If apps start using BSU + ESU around ncurses calls, then ncurses can never use them internally, since they wouldn't nest.

Keeping a nest counter sounds like a recipe for trouble when apps crash.

So when are we adding escapes for XGL with double buffering and XShm? 😂

@wez Indeed, all benchmarks get better scores with batching disabled (left) compared to the default 3 ms delay (right).

But how would this internal flush delay affect vtebench's measurements, which are presumably based on how fast it can write stuff to the pty?

I mean, it's not like the terminal process would sit idle for 3 ms without processing further input...

@Joy It's a lot better than dual screen for gaming, coding and browsing.

The desktop is wide enough for 3 terminals side-by-side or 2 browser windows with plenty of extra room for sidebars and vertical docks.

I use a curved ASUS monitor. Takes a few days to get used to, but now I wouldn't go back.
