@how oddly enough I could see #dontcensor leading to that conclusion in #canada. Once UNIFOR pushes far enough, faceboot et al might simply cut canadian news sources out of the picture completely, erasing our entire situational awareness at a national level.

@how niche alternatives can replace github, but it's not going to happen overnight. Much of the world in the past 5 years has been built on the infrastructure there and it's going to take a LOT of work to re-engineer things away from it.

Go specifically is problematic since it hardcodes the git repository name in the code itself.

But generally: you can't turn a million people around on a dime, but it can be done.

The lack of care about freedom is a huge issue though.
