Finally, I've been part of groups organizing non-violent direct actions that we tried to keep secret until they happened. We later found out the cops had an informer in our ranks, and knew about everything we were doing before it happened:
    http://www.nickyhager.info/crossing-the-line-the-activist-who-turned-police-informer/

So given that the shooter who attacked the mosques in Christchurch was part of a rifle club that had been reported to the Police by worried gun owners, how the hell did they not know what he was planning and stop him before he did it?

The two mosques that were attacked are on either side of central Christchurch. To get between them quickly, the shooter had to drive down one of only 3 roads that go through or around Hagley Park, and then through downtown, practically right past the central Police Station.
    https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/320/cpsprodpb/17FE1/production/_106037289_christchurch_mosque_attacks_map04_976-nc.png

How the hell did the shooter have enough time leave the first mosque, let alone get to the second one, before Police stopped him? (2/2)

This is a very good question, and only one of a number of troubling and unanswered questions about Friday. (1/2)

Asked #Reddit: If you could design any website, app, or any other digital tech, and have a team build it, what would it do and how would it work?
    https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/azvclg/if_you_could_design_any_website_app_or_any_other/

Would be great to have some more answers here. I'm trying to get across the idea that users don't have to be passive consumers of digital tech, but can play an active role in envisioning its development.

But if prominent environmentalists went about making dehumanizing comments about folks who work in tech or fossil fuel industries, that would certainly help create a climate of justification for violence against them. So there are more than a few public intellectuals who need to have a serious think about their habit of making lazy generalizations about Muslims as a type of person, instead of carefully criticizing #Islamism as a *political* philosophy not shared by most Muslims. We have to be careful about claiming that anyone who has ever made a critique of Islam or Muslims is responsible for Friday's tragedy. That's not fair, just like it wasn't fair when some people tried to claim that every every greeny was responsible for the actions of the Unabomber. (1/2)

Do you have any suggestion of a photo manager program which identifies picture using tags / description.

My goal is to create a personal references pictures library for drawing. In order to find quickly references I've selected myself.

I'm testing https://www.tagspaces.org/ but I'm not 100% happy with it (mostly ergonomy).

It could be great that software is available on desktop (linux) and smartphone (android) using a file synchronization.

    Thank you

The famous quote from Homage to Catalonia about "when I see a worker in conflict with his natural enemy - the policeman - I do not have to ask myself which side I am on" reminds me of Lisa McKenzie's comments about how for most of its history the working class has been written about exclusively from a bourgeois standpoint.
