@tagomago @ryandaniels @aearil It's a bit backwards, but maybe it helps to note that `ln -s` and `cp -s` both create symlinks.
I still call it a symlink from b to a and that's the way the ASCII arrow points when you list the directory, it's just that the argument order when you create it is `ln -s a b` for symmetry with hardlinks and copies.
It's like you started off wanting to copy a to b and then you decided nah, I'll just make b a symlink back to a instead. -

This is basic, but it's to show you we're no t lying when we're talking about federation with other fedi software.

@feld @autistikai There is an association called "Friends of the Spit" who meet every year to drive metal spits into the ground and attempt to pry apart SmΓ₯land and SkΓ₯ne, separating SkΓ₯ne from the rest of Sweden and reuniting it with Denmark. After failing in their mission they go and enjoy some good eating and drinking together.
Friends of the Spit has members from both sides of the intended rift. -

Have you ever experienced a really dark night sky? One common and amazing feature is the glowing band of our Milky Way galaxy stretching from horizon to horizon. If you live in or near a big city, though, you might not know this because city lights reflecting off the Earth's atmosphere could only allow you to see the Moon and a few stars. Today, however, being UNESCO's International Day of Light, the International Astronomical Union is asking people to Turn on the Night by trying to better understand, and in the future better reduce, light pollution. You can practice even now by going to the main APOD website at NASA and hovering your cursor over the Before image. The After picture that comes up is a panorama of four exposures taken with the same camera and from the same location, showing what happened recently in China when people in Kaihua County decided to turn down many of their lights. Visible in the Before picture are the stars Sirius (left of center) and Betelgeuse, while visible in the After picture are thousands of stars with the arching band of our Milky Way Galaxy. Humanity has lived for millennia under a dark night sky, and connecting to it has importance for both natural and cultural heritage.

SHA-512/256 refers to SHA-512 truncated to 256 bits, but with a different initial value than plain SHA-512. -

@bhaugen When creationists try to attack the modern successor of Darwin's ideas, they use some of his own uncertainties about his conclusions, quoting him both in and out of context, and that just ignores that most if not all the things he didn't have an explanation for have since been explained. Basically they are attacking his original version, because they don't stand a chance against the modern one, which has been fortified and improved by one discovery after another.
They attack Darwinism for being atheist, but Darwin of 1859 was a Christian man, educated in theism, and was looking for God in his discoveries. When God was not part of the explanation, that made him a deist over the years, not the other way around. -
