@NeoTheThird Besides, they don't just remove non-free parts. They also think of usability in most limited resources to new users of not so old computers. For instance, contrary to #Ubuntu, #Trisquel uses #MATE by default since the non-free distribution #Ubuntu opted to use an environment that requires #3D to function.

@NeoTheThird @adfeno This depends on two things: (a) the user not buying hardware outside of https://www.fsf.org/ryf or (if they prefer to still foster the non-free hardware design market) from an at least B/gold grade from the community-made testing catalog from https://h-node.org/ ); (b) user taught that it's not the project's fault, but of manufacturer, that pressure should be done against this and the project doesn't support/recommend/teach things which aren't #FreeSoftware .

@adfeno so basically, if Electron was ported to #Iridium, all of these accusations of being non-free, against projects that use Electron to package their desktop apps, would evaporate overnight. The same would be true if a fully #FreeCode replacement for #Electron could be found, one that supported the 'design once, deploy everywhere' development style, but didn't inefficiently bundle most of a bloated browser inside its apps.

There have been some posts about ActivityPub I haven't replied to. I think a couple of them were directly trying to bait my interest, given how often I have talked about Worse Is Better and lisp machines vs unix here, and how I have been talking about bringing object capabilities to ActivityPub since before AP was even a W3C recommendation. (You don't need to throw out AP to do it.)
However, instead of just writing about things, I'll be building solutions. Announcement coming early Feb.
