Global banks defy U.S. crackdowns by serving oligarchs, criminals and terrorists

The FinCEN Files show trillions in tainted dollars flow freely through major banks, swamping a broken enforcement system.

@markosaric It's advised to do this enforcing the HTTP Authentication method supported by feed readers/aggregators. So, please don't use "unique subscriber-only URLS for each subscriber" since they are fragile.

@markosaric It might also be possible to leverage following #RSS or #Atom feed/syndication/aggregation standards to make the subscriptions available only after giving authentication (if you think about implementing paid news services).

In my experience, the biggest source of unnecessary energy waste in websites is JavaScript doing some kind of polling while the page is idle. Think about it: you spend ~95% of your time on a web page not doing much: maybe scrolling, maybe typing, maybe literally doing nothing. So if there's something running during "idle" time, consuming CPU, then that will be your biggest battery drain. Especially if you're unfortunate enough to leave the tab open for a long time.

Wow, this is full on: https://www.investigate-europe.eu/en/2017/europes-dire-dependency-on-microsoft/ Gov'ts around Europe (and, I would hope, elsewhere in the world) are realising how dangerous and expensive their dependence on Microsoft is. It's a damning epidemic, and they need to take evasive action.

All across Europe, from Finland to Portugal, Ireland to Greece, the information technology (IT) of government administrations is based on Microsoft programmes. But because digital systems are constantly growing in both size and importance, countries are becoming ever increasingly dependent on this single corporation.

@null0x0 This is why I prefer #FressSoftware and #Federated and solutions that follow international #Standards, software such as #PeerTube. Although this doesn't solve the issue of monetization, it will if combined with both #SnowDrift / #SnowDriftCoop and #GNUTaler / #GNU #Taler .

In Rhapsode I have absolutely no plans to support alerts, they're a terrible auditory experience! Instead of you interrupting the listener, how about they ask for an update?

In Haphaestus I think I'll add link attributes allowing for modal dialogs, automatic updates whilst selected, etc...

"Actual transaction costs are estimated around 0.001 cent/transaction (at high transaction rates, amortized over billions of transactions, excluding migration costs)."

A disruptive payment processor (similar to Lets Encrypt) powered by GNU Taler might be able to totally change the game. :blobthinkingcool:
