Debating between doing one of these this week for Terminal Phase:
- Adding a boss enemy
- Adding powerups
- Adding networked cooperative multiplayer
All of these could be fun. #3 is hardest but easier than you'd think, due to Goblins' support for time travel.
What do you think? Or is there something else you'd like to see in the game?
Wow - I'd LOVE to find a full English translation of this article: https://www.kuketz-blog.de/bildungswesen-entlarvung-der-haeufigsten-microsoft-mythen/ (my German's ok, but not good enough to do it justice)
@njoseph ... and worst: A lot of "FLOSS" projects are sponsored and backed nowadays by large industry donors who possibly don't care much about "free" / libre ideas (looking at you, GSoC). 😐
@docskrzyk @thegibson I wonder though, if something like this could be advantageous towards federation? If Facebook et al are forced to set up 200+ operations all running under different legal frameworks they might loose the efficiency advantage of being in a centralized space versus pivoting towards a protocol-orientated approach. And if a couple big players (EU, etc.) force that protocol to be open and interop?
@fedilab I'm getting a weird issue with posts I've written in Fedilab getting lost. I've particularly noticed it when posting replies. They don't seem to get posted, or if they do, they don't show up in the thread in the Fedilab UI. They can't be found in drafts either. Is this a known issue or would you like me to file a bug report?
Here's another online tool for the imminent NZ election, put together by Scoop.co.nz:

A shame it seems to depend on third-party Javascript from Cloudflare, and the app version is only available in the Goggle Prey Store, not F-Droid.
As I reflect on designing a web browser specifically for smart TVs it really strikes me that type of thinking is really vital there, and that I'm curious others' takes! People are especially likely to rely on corporate hueristics to decide what to watch on TV! They need something better...
So my question to anyone interested: What homepage can you design for "Haphaestus" to automatically generate interesting links?
You can test in existing browsers with JS turned off...

I'm really curious what web browsers can do to help people (re)discover interesting/useful/entertaining/etc webpages without relying on centralized, profit-seeking services. That's what really got me into web browser development.
I've found some good techniques for this. I love good old-fashioned webfeeds! Echoing back unvisited links you've encountered works quite well as personalized recommendations! I like the topsites concept!

"In short, federation distributes governance and cost, and can allow us to tackle challenges that we couldn’t overcome without it. The free software community needs to rally behind federation, because no one else will. For all of the reasons which make it worth doing, it is not rewarding for corporations. They would much rather build walled gardens and centralize, centralize, centralize — it’s more profitable!"

Web Design & Carbon Impact: https://cmhb.de/web-design-and-carbon-impact
Seems to meet the consensus I've been roughly seeing elsewhere... And that I understand from the theory!
1. Reduce Images
2. Optimize Images
3. Reduce Video (Also: please add a download link...)
4. Font Selection & Optimization (I'd say, sure use webfonts if it gets you away from excess images!)
5. Write clean code
6. Use Less JavaScript
7. Use Server Caching
8. SEO

Concordo com os administradores que querem silenciar desde que dêm a opção de continuar se comunicando com algum perfil destas instâncias quando seguidos, o que de fato já é suportado.
Concordo que devemos tentar tornar as postagens mais amigáveis aos iniciantes.
Bashing FOSS without critiquing it does nothing to improve it. It's well known that its communities are plagued with problems, its leadership has terrible priorities, it is underfunded, and it is understaffed.
Saying the whole thing is pointless or bad improves none of these things.
People have been making fun of me for caring about fringe political opinions since high school, and it's disappointing to see leftists decide to vaguely lash out instead of organize.
Dutch media company NPO ("the BBC of the Netherlands") abandons user-tracking and makes more money from advertising, than it ever made on user-targeted ads.

Outlier, or portent?
And how do I tweak my AdBlock and uMatrix plug-ins to always whitelist anyone using this advertising model?
