PSA: ๐จ Update Tor Browsers now!
On March 14, 2025, a Mozilla root certificate used for add-ons verification will expire, potentially disabling extensions like NoScript or breaking features such as the Security Slider on Tor Browser versions older than 13.5.11 legacy.
To avoid issues and security risks, update now to 14.0.7 stable or 13.5.13 legacy. https://blog.torproject.org/old-tor-browsers-breakage/
@b9AcE Good catch! Corrected. Thank you!
It's #WorldDayAgainstCyberCensorship and a year since we launched WebTunnel bridges. The Tor community has successfully rallied to scale WebTunnel bridges from 60 to over 300, surpassing the initial goal of 200 new deployments.
https://blog.torproject.org/fighting-censorship-with-webtunnel/ ๐ Thanks to everyone who pitched in!
Question/ask!
Some locals are organizing a community skillshare and I offered to help folks get set up with secure text messaging using Signal. Are there any tutorials/guides that you particularly recommend, or known issues with setup, maybe with other kinds of phones? (I've had no issues setting up on Android)
Also: is there anything else you'd recommend I share with folks in terms of communication security? Other helpful apps or tools? Looking for things I can quickly learn, then teach.
