Transactional email providers with low delivery failures are not cheap.

New pixelfed.social monthly costs:

$30 - cloudflare (pro + 2 managed tls certs)
$20 - backups, Spaces, CDN
$20 - state.pixelfed.net server

Direct Messages have been redesigned and work for local users (federation support will follow shortly after)

Following Activity has been finished, it allows you to see non-timeline activities of the accounts you follow.

:pixelfed: Direct has evolved a lot since the early UI screenshots.

It didn't make sense to release this feature until it federated.

When I started pixelfed, stuff like blocks or mutes wasn't even on my radar.

I have never experienced abuse or harassment online. I've never blocked an account on twitter. It was naive to think those should not be a priority based on my own experiences.

I've learned so much this past year, and strive to build a safer alternative to IG for everyone.

It might take a bit longer, but it sure is worth it!

I'm a high school dropout that has never taken any CS or computer classes.

Web development is just a hobby of mine, I work in the auto industry.

I'm so proud of this project, I never would have imagined that I could make something like this.

I've used Patreon for a few years, less than 1 as a creator and for some reason my account has been flagged for "suspicious activity".
