MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se)'s status on Friday, 17-May-2019 17:27:34 UTC MMN-o ✅⃠ Yes, a bizarre !GNUsocial knockoff. Because Mastodon was the original federated social implementation.
Good bye, and thanks for all the fish. -
MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se)'s status on Sunday, 17-Feb-2019 12:28:12 UTC MMN-o ✅⃠ @tom79 The atom feed you subscribe to via PuSH there is everything the !GNUsocial user publishes.
If you want to send something "upstream" we use "salmon", to where you can send your own notifications (like "hey, I subscribed to you!" or "you are mentioned in this notice"). -
MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se)'s status on Sunday, 17-Feb-2019 12:25:39 UTC MMN-o ✅⃠ @tom79 I'm not sure what you're asking really. Do you want to know the endpoints for subscribing to a !fediverse user on !GNUsocial? If you do a #WebFinger lookup you'll get this:
curl -s https://social.umeahackerspace.se/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se | json_pp
...
"href" : "https://social.umeahackerspace.se/api/statuses/user_timeline/2.atom",
"rel" : "http://schemas.google.com/g/2010#updates-from",
...
The Atom feed, just like an PubSubHubbub enabled feed, has metadata for the subscription endpoint:
curl -s https://social.umeahackerspace.se/api/statuses/user_timeline/2.atom | grep rel=.hub
<link href="https://social.umeahackerspace.se/main/push/hub" rel="hub"/>
To this hub you do the subscription dance for the feed URI (i.e. the Atom link from before): https://pubsubhubbub.github.io/PubSubHubbub/pubsubhubbub-core-0.4.html
The activitystreams signalling - please note that this is optional, that is something else. -

MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se)'s status on Monday, 21-Jan-2019 06:54:55 UTC MMN-o ✅⃠ Oh right, I also applied for and got grants from Internetfonden (.SE) which paid for some !umehack rents, which sort of gave me more free time. -

MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se)'s status on Monday, 21-Jan-2019 06:49:09 UTC MMN-o ✅⃠ Yeah, GNU/FSF have never put any resources in to GNU social apart from maintaining the general !fs politics worldwide.
Originally Evan had startup grants, I just put in my free time (which I barely have any left nowadays) and @diogo got the gsoc stuff.
While I enjoy the !ostatus solution much more than ActivityPub maybr we should see what has been generated "outside" of !gnusocial .) Think of how many people have managed to find their way out on the !fediverse even if it's maybe not via GS specifically. But it's all AGPL .) -
MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se)'s status on Monday, 21-Jan-2019 06:39:48 UTC MMN-o ✅⃠ Whenever we can take resources from Google without giving anything back - or maybr even developing anti-Google-stuff - I think we should take those resources. The fact that they get some PR out of it (as @aral constantly complains about) is less important as I think they could get that anyway without contributing to !fs
Though I agree they shouldn't get any speaker time even if they "platinum sponsor" events.

MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se)'s status on Saturday, 21-Jul-2018 13:17:07 UTC MMN-o ✅⃠ Yeah my point is that promoting statistics and analytics is a bad thing. Delayed posts etc. are other things that have veen discussed in the past. These "features" are not something that maintains a healthy social communication base.
Of course anyone can implement this. I just don't think it benefits or otherwise contributes to humane social spaces.
Bots are also an interesting topic of discussion that I think anyone developing for the !fediverse should put some thought and critical thinking into. -
MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se)'s status on Saturday, 21-Jul-2018 12:00:44 UTC MMN-o ✅⃠ @kris Good for you! Not for the general population of the future. -
MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se)'s status on Saturday, 21-Jul-2018 11:55:38 UTC MMN-o ✅⃠ In this case the tools being designed are for analysis helping out to create the most impressionable posts etc. That's antisocial. Communication between humans should not strive to have the largest impact. Such behaviour is inherently detrimental. -
MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se)'s status on Saturday, 21-Jul-2018 08:16:28 UTC MMN-o ✅⃠ Why would anyone want brands, companies and other crap in their _social_ feeds? Isn't the whole point of why people enjoy the !fediverse that it's _not_ like the asocial advertisement platforms?
Let's not explicitly invite capitalism. Let them build their own damn tools. -
