@cloutstream Good idea! I could take the pixelfed federation code and abstract it to a php and laravel package.

Supporting non-js users has been the biggest challenge with pixelfed in terms of UI, performance and a consistent experience.

I have found the solution, and it will make development a lot easier

Working on this GS AP plugin with @up201705417 is really cool, I ran a StatusNet instance (unfederated) in 2013 and I never thought I would get to contribute back something that made an impact on the fediverse! I'm kind of more excited for this plugin than pixelfed.

@freemo Maybe! I am putting :pixelfed: dev on pause to help finish the GS AP plugin with @up201705417. The GSoC deadline is coming up.

I started a new project in 2016 to rewrite GNU/Social and lost interest not long after. Late last year I picked it back up and made a lot of progress until I realized I should be using ActivityPub over OStatus. When I realized pleroma existed and mastodon had matured a lot I decided to focus on something else.

Sometimes you don't get it right the first time but never give up! I'm glad I gave up socialnode/socialhub because :pixelfed: would never exist otherwise.

Don't feel guilty for being inspired by existing successful platforms!

My hero in this regard is @Gargron. He built a huge community and revitalized the fediverse at a crucial time and I don't think he gets the credit he deserves.

He is very open to feedback and despite some criticism, has moved the fediverse forward in the best interest of the users and not some VC funded company.

It is in the best interest of the fediverse that we work together. #activitypub #fediverse

I promised Diogo I would work with him on the GS AP plugin weeks before I started pixelfed.

It won't affect pixelfed in anyway since this in much less complex in scope and he has been doing much of the work!

At this rate, the progress @up201705417 has made on the GNU/Social ActivityPub plugin, I think GS might support AP sooner than :pixelfed: ! I have been working on the delivery & HTTP signatures today.
