@nightpool interesting,
So far it appears Varnish + Hitch aren't vulnerable, but still early days -

hey all, there's a rash of http2 vulnerabilities going around c/o Netflix today.
the default mastodon nginx config has http2 enabled, and nginx is affected (in one form or another) by three of these attacks, so you should upgrade nginx as soon as possible:

@dansup Instagram is growing and the other networks are dying. People like the style and spontaneity. The app is perfect for the purpose. -

@dansup if you don't have a mobile app you'll never get mass adoption. People don't want to use computers they want to use smartphones -

@cassidyjames me? Once in the last 5 years. I have good opsec. Gas station attendant skimmed my card. Couldn't pay at pump. Now I only fill up at Mobil where I can use the app and pay via Apple Pay. Well, I don't even do that much because my primary car is a Tesla now.
My mom? About 20 times in the last 5 years. -

@caseyp @lanodan @stevenroose don't try to convince me Rust is lightweight. It's almost 700MB -

@cassidyjames yeah, debit cards are terribly unsafe. If you re a fraud victim YOUR money is gone and you have to fight to get it back
Credit cards are bank money. If there's fraud they fight to get THEIR money back. You are not personally harmed. You'll still have money to pay your bills, rent, etc -

The base64 crate "requires Rust v1.31 or higher". WTF. How can one not have base64 code that works on all #Rust versions... -

Do you use multiple workstations / laptops? Do you want some stuff synced between those devices?
I use syncthing for that. It is peer-to-peer, no 3rd parties involved. It is secure. it is fast.It is reliable.
Got laptops / workstations not always online all at the same time? Install syncthing in a VM or server.

@stevenroose 👏 :classiclol: I saw this coming yesterday when I noticed bitwarden_rs had multiple versions of base64 in its dependency tree
how hard is it to make a base64 library people? -

*sigh*
It looks like the maintainer of the base64 #Rust crate broke all code using the rust-bitcoin #Bitcoin Core RPC client to run on #Debian.Trivial crates like base64 have a single job: don't change.
