Google moved 19.9 billion euros ($22.7 billion) through a Dutch shell company to Bermuda in 2017, as part of an arrangement that allows it to reduce its foreign tax bill, according to documents filed at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.

... The subsidiary in the Netherlands is used to shift revenue from royalties earned outside the United States to Google Ireland Holdings, an affiliate based in Bermuda, where companies pay no income tax.

The biggest threats to the Fediverse:

1. Mastodon dot social might just decide to never close registrations

2. Facebook/Twitter might build ActivityPub support into their product (does your instance have a policy against federating with them?)

3. New government regulations ostensibly designed to curb Facebook's excesses might contain requirements for social media services that can only be met by very well-funded mega-corporations

I want to get to a point where I can make my own allergy shots. They are way too expensive and way too awesome.

Same with pap smears and skin biopsies. Some of the tech is so simple, and people are posting instructions and coding to affordably build the required lab equipment.
