Some may wish to reform it, towards attempts to unconditionally legalise remixing, educational use and not-for-profit sharing between individuals. Others may actively refuse copyright altogether, demonstrating the collective culture of sharing, through decentralised/distributed services and protocols, as a basic and essential precondition to being, acting and fighting together all forms of oppression.
DIVERSITY OF TACTICS, COMMON STRATEGY:
DOWN WITH OPPRESSIVE COPYRIGHT! -

Weaponised against the People, copyright serves as pretext to control and extract all possible financial benefit from our communications, our cultural practices, our expression and our lives online and offline. Such a "copywrong" and its enforcement rely heavily on mass-surveillance.
BEYOND THE VOTE ON #ARTICLE13 WE MUST RESIST COPYRIGHT — OPPOSE AND DISOBEY IT WHENEVER NECESSARY!

SHARING IS CARING!For at least 20 years we have fought a copyright regime which has been used as a tool of oppression: EUCD, "three strikes", ACTA, #Article13, etc. Like a Terminator, it always comes back after we've defeated it, to control the means of distribution of cultural works, serving the interests of the entertainment industry.

Why does the hacking license talk about universe-wide rights but then restricts them to humans? It sounds specist now and not future proof :P

f (f@todon.nl)'s status on Monday, 11-Mar-2019 00:12:02 UTC f @dgold @tindall @dankwraith @jalcine @garbados the copyfarleft licence is meant for non functional works (it's the cc-by-sa-nc with the nc clause modified). the authors argue that software is a mean of production and copyleft already exploits capitalist need of ever cheaper machinery while making it free for everyone.
Copyfarleft is for works as commodities, thus making them free for everyone but capitalists to profit from. Maybe we need a copyfarleft clause for software licenses, afaict the "commons" clause is still weird for such strategy
I'll read the hack license, I didn't knew about it :)

If you want to protect your followers' privacy, you can make your follower lists private:
1. Go to Settings
2. Go to Preferences
3. Tick the "Hide your network" box
4. Select "Save Changes"You will still see your list of followers, but others won't.
(This also hides the list of who you follow.)

Peter KroPopskin (socalledunitedstates@sunbeam.city)'s status on Friday, 01-Mar-2019 02:33:01 UTC Peter KroPopskin If you’re a liberal, and you canvas or campaign or vote or petition or write your representative and it doesn’t get the laws you want passed passed, you’ve failed, and you may as well have not done those things. But if you’re an anarchist and you host a food share or start a coop or go to a book fair with your comrades, and those things don’t singlehandedly topple capitalism and the state - well, you’ve fed people, given workers control over their work, built up relationships with your community, and had a good time
It’s a process, it’s not an all-at-once breaking but a gradual loosening of the chains, your reach widening and your wrists hurting less and less until one day maybe you can slip your hands out. Or maybe you won’t, but you’ve still gotten freer along the way. Those little victories are important and should be celebrated and cherished. That’s how you stay hopeful and happy as a leftist

Henry Edward Hardy (hhardy01@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 24-Mar-2018 14:20:12 UTC Henry Edward Hardy Really, asking "what should replace Facebook" is putting things the wrong way around.
A more interesting way to ask the question is, "what did Facebook replace."
People used to build their own websites. People used to have blogs. People used USENET which was truly distributed and un-censorable.
Facebook and Google took the open internet and open standards and monetized and made everything crappy. Enough of that. Nothing should replace Facebook, it's done, stick a fork in it.
