socialist sávoy (pinguino@todon.nl)'s status on Saturday, 16-Feb-2019 21:48:19 UTC socialist sávoy I feel like free time is essential for an educated and united front against capitalism. The amount of time spent working + commuting during the week leaves zero time for much else, and I'm exhausted by the weekend. Add in chores, groceries, and whatever else I need to do and the weekend flies by without any time for rest.
The "grind" leaves the majority feeling trapped in an endless cycle they can't break out of, and your life revolving around your career leaves no time to actually live. It's a constant race to compete with those around you.
The elite should not have this kind of power.

Por este reddit sobre LineageOS hay info al respecto, parece que seteando a O una variable global se soluciona.

It's a good illustration of how entangled open source became with some of the more regressive elements of capitalism. There's no thought or care for what Google or Amazon might be doing or where they might be taking the web. You just need to make sure you're on the right career path and and focus on community without considering the context in which the software exists.
It may be true that open source won, but the other question is what did it win, and for whom? With free software it's not so clear that there was any big victory and basic stuff like being able to use a phone without proprietary software is still hard. -
FreedomBox (freedomboxfndn@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 13-Feb-2019 00:39:44 UTC FreedomBox 9 years ago this month, Eben Moglen delivered the oration that started it all: "Freedom in the Cloud."
This speech inspired the #FreedomBox project. Part history of the web and part call to action, this speech continues to orient our community today. It's worth revisiting each year.

QueerAnarchism (queeranarchism@anarchism.space@anarchism.space)'s status on Tuesday, 12-Feb-2019 22:01:00 UTC QueerAnarchism Probably one of the biggest unacknowledged impacts of capitalism on our life is the artificial scarcity of time.
Without capitalism, we could all work less. We could rest more. We could let selfcare, play and creation come intuitively. A lot of things don’t need to be scheduled.
We could just let time happen without any obligation to make a particular use of it. -

Someone told me they even bought a project that was making libre hardware for cellphone networks (I think they're called BTS'?)

RX-69 🍕 Gundam (rrix@cybre.space)'s status on Thursday, 07-Feb-2019 21:11:32 UTC RX-69 🍕 Gundam To be clear: DNS over HTTPS allows privacy violating libraries to side-step the host APIs for domain resolution and implement it themselves, with their own servers. Users using DoH to escape censorship regimes or ISP nuttery is something we *should* solve for, but not at the cost of user agency.
