For cataloguing and borrowing physical books online, you could try looking at @inventaire either using it directly or using the libre code they provide?

I don't know if it is what you are looking for, but there's a single user AP blog called microblog.pub:
Alternatively, you can use Write Freely (https://writefreely.org), Plume (https://joinplu.me) or AP plugins on Wordpress blogs (Pterotype or ActivityPub plugin, both are AP despite the different names).

Not necessarily one size/shape, but a narrow range of open standard sizes, a bit like the modern mobile equivalent of AA / AAA / C / D batteries.
An added advantage of this would be a good market for third party companies like duracell etc to make reliable replacement batteries, instead of having to rely on some knock-off from ebay which may explode.

On devices that already cost hundreds of euros, the additional percentage cost of battery covers/connectors must be close to zero.

Shoutout to @warandpeas and @timecowboy for posting their nice webcomics here on the Fediverse 👍

Non-removable batteries and non-standard size mobile batteries anger me the most, because there are lots of perfectly functional devices that are abandoned just because they don't hold a charge any more.
The first mobile devices (like Walkmans etc) used to use standard replaceable batteries like AA size, so this never happened before.
If there could be some legally mandated standard mobile battery, we would have a lot less electronic waste and save a lot of money.

I'm pretty sure the instance block did it, because the fake followers started to disappear almost instantly.

I reported it to my instance admin who blocked the domain at the instance level, which stopped the spam follows.
(I'm not sure if they did something else too, but this also removed all the fake accounts from my follower list.)

It's worth trying @Jami as an alternative, it's FLOSS, encrypted and peer-to-peer, and has an interface similar to Skype so it's very familiar to use.
You can get it for all major computer and phone platforms:

Yeah... I guess this is the problem, hobbyists and tech enthusiasts are ok using unsupported stuff at their own risk.
As soon as you take tech to a general audience, they will expect support because they just want a device that works reliably, and Lineage isn't reliable enough across all supported models.

Hey there, which solutions do you mean?

I get that Lineage and similar are good, but if they remain so difficult to instally I don't think I can recommend them.
I'm *fairly* ok with tech stuff but I find Lineage installation instructions really scary and would not want to attempt it on an expensive device like a smartphone, and especially not on a friend's phone.
Given that situation, I guess there just is no alternative to Google Android for people like me? :blobsad:

By the way, is there any info out there about which parts of /e/ are non-free?
(I'm trying to get a "pros" and "cons" list basically.)

The problem with Lineage is it's extremely difficult to install, much more difficult than installing linux on a PC.
The big advantage of /e/ is it's available preinstalled, so non-technical people can use it.

p.s. Thank you to @sheogorath for the headsup about /e/ being on sale, and for the link to @infosechandbook 's article.

The /e/ foundation has started selling phones with their own version of Android preloaded on them:
The /e/ version of Android is aiming to be de-googlised, but there are still a few remnants of G on them:
https://infosec-handbook.eu/blog/e-foundation-second-look/
Just wondering what people think about /e/?
Should I list it as an alternative to Android? Is it degooglised enough to consider as a "least worst" option?

You could try an instance of Kanboard?
