I don't use the app, so it does indeed sound like an app issue.

I think the EU brought in rules a few years ago to force all smartphones to use micro USB chargers in order to reduce waste, so people wouldn't have to buy a new charger each time.

I've never had that happen to me, no idea what is going on there. Hope it gets resolved soon 🤞
If you run a company, try OnlyOffice:
I mainly mention LibreOffice because switching.social is mainly aimed at private individuals.

Haven't had that issue myself, I use Protonmail but mails generally go through.
I've very occasionally run into organisations who have a "whitelist" of mail servers to accept and won't accept any indie email addresses, but this is really rare.
Welcome 👋
You're on one of the best instances for local timelines, mastodon.art is full of talented people 👍
Yes, I lost about 10% of my non-spam follower total.
Sounds like a bug in the follower count?

An official report for the Dutch government concluded:
“(Microsoft Office) systematically collects data on a large scale ... covertly, without informing people. … Microsoft does not offer any choice with regard to the amount of data, or possibility to switch off the collection.”
Don't use Microsoft Office, use LibreOffice instead 👍

Switching.social feedback requested 💬
The site currently has two contents pages:
-Current default (roughly in order of relevance to non-tech people)
https://switching.social/
-Alphabetical order
https://switching.social/alphabetical-list/
Is the front page ok as is, with current list and link to alphabetical list?
Or should the alphabetical list be the default on the front page?
(If your instance doesn't support polls, post a reply.)

I don't know, I'm not a developer. Maybe @inventaire can help?
I think Internet Archive's Open Library also has open source?

Google still snoop on Android devices even if you don't sign in.
Android is designed to gather and pass on to Google information about how it is used, who uses it, where it is etc.
On Mastodon at least, all you should need to do is click on the links above and then click follow.
To find a follow link on Mastodon, just put the PeerTube channel's URL into the search box, click search and then click follow on the result.
If you're on Hubzilla, perhaps it has problems communicating with PeerTube?
The /e/ foundation has started selling phones with their own version of Android preloaded on them:
The /e/ version of Android is aiming to be de-googlised, but there are still a few remnants of G on them:

Just wondering what people think about /e/?
Should I list it as an alternative to Android? Is it degooglised enough to consider as a "least worst" option?
If you want it to be as easy as possible, take a look at https://masto.host
A lot of good instances use it.
