Thanks for the feedback. The duplication is actually deliberate due to the list's alphabetical nature, they might look under M or W for Windows (and better to see something twice than miss it completely).

Family and Friends are a difficult challenge with alternatives, I wish I could offer clear answers :blobsad:

You probably can't convince people to switch on your own, but you can at least let them know there are alternatives. If they hear about alternatives from several different sources, they might actually consider trying them.

I don't know how easy/effective it actually is to "confuse" FB. You would probably end up mainly looking at stuff relevant to you anyway?

Anyone know if there's a Searx instance with a cleaner, more Google/DDG-like interface by default?

Or is anyone working on one?

I know there are other themes available but none of the current ones are as calm as DDG/Google/Bing etc.

Also, default themes are the only ones that non-tech people will ever see. If you want non-techies to use Searx, the default theme has to be aimed at them.

Legally requiring opt-in consent for tracking is the absolute bare minimum that any government or organisation should mandate.
